Buying property in Javea
Buying property in Jávea is about choosing from several very different versions of Mediterranean life.
Known officially as Xàbia, Jávea sits in one of the most dramatic settings on Costa Blanca North, with the Montgó behind it and a coastline of beaches, rocky coves, cliffs and impossibly blue Mediterranean water stretching between Cabo de San Antonio and Cabo de la Nao.
But Jávea isn't really one place.
It has three distinct centres — the historic Old Town, the Port and the Arenal — each offering a completely different atmosphere and lifestyle.
The Old Town is unmistakably Spanish, with narrow streets, traditional houses, local shops, the municipal market and the impressive fortified Church of San Bartolomé at its heart.
Down by the sea, the Port — Duanes de la Mar — retains its fishing heritage alongside restaurants, shops, the marina and the distinctive Church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto.
Then there's the Arenal, centred around Jávea's main sandy beach and promenade, with restaurants, cafés, shops and a much livelier holiday atmosphere.
Beyond those three areas you'll find established residential neighbourhoods, hillside villas, peaceful urbanisations and some spectacular properties overlooking the Mediterranean.
At Renvida, we believe buying a property starts with understanding how you want to live. And in Jávea, that matters enormously.
Two homes with the same postcode can offer completely different lifestyles.
Buying property in Jávea should feel exciting, not overwhelming. We'll help you understand the different areas, explore the options and find the home that works for the way you actually want to live.
Because in Jávea, choosing the location can be every bit as important as choosing the property.

🔑 The Renvida Local Secret
If you want to see a different side of Jávea, leave the beach for a morning and head into the Old Town on a Thursday.
That's market day.
The weekly market spreads through several squares in the historic centre, filling the streets with fruit and vegetables, food, clothing, household goods and all the usual wonderfully unpredictable market finds.
But don't simply visit the stalls and leave.
Wander through the surrounding narrow streets, stop for coffee and explore the Municipal Market, where local produce, fish, meat, cheeses and other food are part of everyday life rather than a tourist attraction.
Look at the buildings as you walk.
Jávea's historic centre has its own architectural character, with white façades, wrought-iron details and the distinctive golden tosca stone appearing around doors, windows and historic buildings.
Then drive down to the Port for lunch.
Same Jávea.
Completely different world.
⭐ Did You Know?
Jávea's coastline stretches for around 25 kilometres, but it certainly isn't 25 kilometres of identical beach.
The Arenal is the town's main sandy beach, while elsewhere the coastline becomes increasingly dramatic, with rocky coves, cliffs and exceptionally clear water.
Granadella and Portitxol are among the best-known coves, while the waters around the coast are particularly popular for snorkelling, diving, kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing.
The Montgó Natural Park forms the extraordinary backdrop to the town, while the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve protects part of the coastline between Jávea and neighbouring Dénia.
And despite its international reputation, Jávea still has a working fishing port. The maritime district grew around generations of fishing families, and the harbour remains part of the town's identity today.
💗 Why We Love Jávea
Because it gives you choices.
You can have coffee surrounded by centuries-old architecture in the Old Town.
You can live close to the fishing port and walk beside the Mediterranean in the evening.
You can choose the buzz of the Arenal, with restaurants and cafés almost on the doorstep.
Or you can retreat into the hills, where villas look across pine trees, the Montgó and the sea.
And then there are the coves.
The photographs are beautiful.
The reality can be even better.
Granadella, Portitxol and the smaller stretches of coastline between Jávea's headlands reveal a completely different side of the Costa Blanca — rocky, dramatic and extraordinarily beautiful.
Jávea can certainly become busy in summer.
But that's only part of its story.
Step away from the busiest areas and there is still traditional Spanish life, remarkable countryside, a working port and neighbourhoods where people live throughout the year.
Perhaps that's why Jávea attracts such a broad mix of buyers.
Different people can come looking for completely different lifestyles...
...and all decide they've found them in the same town.
🌿 A Thought Before You Leave...
Jávea is difficult to describe with one photograph.
Show someone the Arenal and you've missed the Old Town.
Show them the Old Town and you've missed the Port.
Show them the Port and you've missed the coves.
And show them Granadella...
...well, you've probably just convinced them to get on a plane.
The trick with Jávea isn't deciding whether you like it.
It's working out which Jávea you like best.
And that's where knowing the area makes all the difference.
